Isabel Da MorteWe try to cover as many bases as we can each month here at Voltcase - a bit of punk, a bit art, a bit of horror and a bit of, well, everything, really, but its not very often we do a feature on someone who is a model, an actress, a writer, a promoter AND a film maker.
Isabel Da Morte (or Izzy for short as we more affectionately call her here at Voltcase HQ) has been popping in our Daily Pics section a bit recently and now we've taken it one step further and given her her own feature.
Read, enjoy the pics, and, as ever, click here for more!
Hello! How are you? Very well sir, thanks for asking. Ok...that was too formal, and NOT me, ha ha. It goes more like this...... PRETTY DAMN GOOD.........and you? Ha ha
If you were talking to a stranger, how would you describe yourself in three words: Hmmmm lets see....just three??!! 1. Abnormal 2. Crazy 3. Psycho (boy that gets em every time ha ha)
So you're a model, actress, writer, promoter and film maker? Surely there aren't enough hours in the day! Of them all, Which one would you say you enjoy the most / consider your main occupation? Well I enjoy all of it actually. I've been writing since I was a little girl, and as I got older that talent grew in to something bigger. Now I write music & film reviews, horror stories, many of my stories are turned in to scripts for our films. When ever I feel an urge to write or have a story in my head, I immediately jot it down on paper.
As for the promoting.....that is all part of having your own business and being in the fields of work I am in. 1.) you have to promote yourself to get your name out there and be seen, EXPOSURE is a key element in the biz. A lot of times you can find avenues of exposure by promoting others too. It not only helps you out, but lends some support and help to the person you are doing the promo work for. Thus friendships are some times formed and new doors opened. The whole promo end of things first spawned when my husband and I began our production company a little over a year ago (Endless Dark Productions). We then designed the album cover for the UK band "NG26". From there the promo end of things evolved into a venue and project of itself branching out all over the web. Myspace has been a great place for just that! I even run the U.S. fan base for NG 26..."The NG26 26 Alliance" (http://www.myspace.com/ng26allianceus).
All in all I would say that acting and modeling are my MAIN occupation, as they both equally consume my time and me. It was through acting that I got involved with the modeling side of things. Once you are used to being in front of a movie camera, you suddenly are no longer "Camera shy" and become pretty photogenic actually. Now I love the camera....both sides of it. You learn new things with each shoot, and or movie you do. Both types of film can easily co inside and apply to one another. I learn from both, and what an interesting and enjoyable experience it is!
I leave the directing. Editing and running the movie camera up to my hubby. That's one thing I will gladly NOT do, ha ha. I tend to stay away from expensive equipment, and complicated stuff.....Breakable things and Izzy don't mix.
Horror seems to play a big part in your modeling, and not just subtle / vamp type horror, but full-on blood and guts / lumps of meat type horror. Is it all just for show, or are you actually into the more extreme side of horror? For show...NO WAY. I LOVE THE FUN WITH BLOOD! (fake blood that is). I am an avid horror fan and love horror movies, so I try my best to incorporate elements of horror into my modeling every chance I get. That's why I am an Official "BLOODY MESSY GIRL" ON BLOODYMESSYGIRLS.COM. (hint...get your booty over there and check me out!!!). What's funny about the whole blood & gore and lumps of meat type horror that modeling etc that I do is that I'm actually nauseated by the site of real blood. My husband cut his finger about a year ago and stitched it himself...I almost passed out and felt like I was going to vomit the entire time I was watching him sew it up. I had to turn my head. I cannot deal with real blood in person but I love to play in fake blood???? Weird huh, especially coming from a gore hound like myself, pretty ironic. I find it some what fascinating, not arousing, just fun. ('I'm not right" is what my husband tells me). So yes, I love the extreme side of horror, but I also like the dark, gothic, unusual side of modeling. Goth and horror modeling are my comfort zone, but I will step outside of that if I fancy it but no way will I ever do nude or porn!!!!
"Quench" seems to get mentioned a lot on your online page. Can you tell us a bit about it? Sure! I would love to! "QUENCH" is a film that my husband and I were featured extras in October of 2006. Our friend Zack Parker (Along the Tracks Productions) had asked us to be extras in the film. We gladly said yes and thus QUENCH was our first film project we were ever involved in. Our first time in front of the camera. Needless to say we loved the experience and have been in front of the camera ever since. The film is not a horror film, but does contain elements that would appeal to horror fans. It is a gothic drama. "A Modern Gothic Tragedy". I won't tell you what it's about because it hasn't been released yet, so I cannot tell you, and besides, everyone hates a spoiler.
Quench is very different then other films on the market today. It is a portrayal of a "real to life" situation that could actually happen to someone. Dealing with and addressing situations that occur in society today right under our noses and we either: 1.) Are not aware of it occurring, or 2). Are aware and choose to ignore what we don't understand, and or fear. It's a film that will leave you speechless, possibly appalled, in tears, or in a state of shock. Quench definitely plays on your emotions....It is an AWESOME FILM WITH A UNIQUE, INTERESTING PLOT!! A MUST WATCH!!!!! And not just because I'm in it. So visit ALONGTHETRACKS.COM and be sure to tell ZACK that Isabel Da Morte sent ya!
What does the future hold for Endless Dark Productions? Are you working on anything at the moment that you might want to tell us about? We are currently working on a few short films of our own one being a horror short called "SOMBER" and the other being a kid friendly horror short called "MONSTER IN MY CLOSET", both of which my husband is directing and I am starring in, as well as one of our 3 boys. One of which is in the process of his own short film project for school, and he's only 13!!! Already a young film maker in the making!
We also have some upcoming projects with other film makers, but nothing is set in stone on those projects at the present time. Right now our main focus is getting our film projects off the ground and in full motion.
As for what the future holds for Endless Dark Productions.....
Hopefully money, haha (I know I'm dreaming). It would be nice to be able to make a living on making films, and not have to work regular dead end jobs.
On a serious note though..... We of coarse have dreams of our company some day becoming big and well known, but at this point in time you just never know what the future holds. Our future is what we make it. We will continue to pursue our dreams and take Endless Dark Productions as far as we can...who knows what may happen next, the possibilities are Endless!
Loud punk rock n roll plays a big part in our lives here at Voltcase towers, does music influence you at all? Any artists in particular that you fancy namedropping? MUSIC!!! DID SOMEONE SAY MUSIC! Music is a big part of my life. It's more than just a favorite song from this band or that band. It influences several aspects of my life. I find music as being a big source of inspiration. As I mentioned earlier, that I even do promo work for the band "NG'26". I run the U.S. fan base for NG 26..."The NG26 26 Alliance" (http://www.myspace.com/ng26allianceus).
I have several favorite artists, such as.....HIM, My Chemical Romance, The 69 Eyes, Alkaline Trio, Wednesday 13, and many more. But I have to say my two newest additions and favorites are two band from the UK.....one being"NG 26" and the other being "TOLERANCE". Two bands that I'm helping to promote who have this thing called TALENT!!! I want to thank both of those bands for allowing us to be part of their world. You guys rock. Maybe the kind folks at here at VoltCase could do features on them (hint hint mark, ha ha). In my opinion, If it wasn't for music the world would be dull and boring.
What are you up to on Halloween? Are you big Halloween person, and are you going to be dressing up etc? HALLOWEEN..............is like Christmas time for me, Christmas in October!. My favorite holiday. I'm always waiting patiently...ok, impatiently for all the stores to put their Halloween costumes and goodies out, and impatiently waiting for those haunted attractions to open. So YES, I'm a huge Halloween person....just look at my myspace page...i love to dress up even when it's not Halloween. Will I be dressing up???? you bet your ass I will. As a mater of fact i have plans of dressing up as Chainsaw Sally this year, but that could change, with me.....who knows what crazy, insane character i will be. One things for sure.....no one else will be dressed like me on Halloween!
Why should the lazy general public make the effort to check you out? Hmmmm shall i make a list as to why??? Yes, i shall.
