Hi, welcome to Voltcase! How are things!?

Things are fine, just living life one day at a time.

So, how would you describe yourself to a stranger in just three words?

Funny, wild and passionate.

Is there anything in particular that sets you apart from all of the other Voltgirl’s we’ve featured in Voltcase over the years?

Since I do not know any of these girls I can not be sure. I notice we have things in common like being alternative models, body mods and beauty however all of the featured girls are unique in their own way. As for me, I like to consider my self as sort of a ‘one-girl-show’ as my passions expand beyond just modelling and they include clothing design, make-up/hair styling and photo shoot concepts. Overall, I pride myself in how versatile and creative I am. I don’t just consider myself a model but an artist as well.

Now, on to the modelling – how did it all start for you? Was it something you always wanted to do, or did it just ‘happen’?

I discovered my interest in modelling around year 2001. It began simply as a hobby and leisure pursuit. I find that modelling is a great way to express art and emotion. I’ve always been especially interested in painting but I feel that modelling is a more instant result. Modelling only became significant when I noticed I was inspiring people and that I was making an impact. It’s an elevating feeling to encourage people to learn and be part of the alternative community. I never actually started modelling with the intent to become a model, I continually look at my modelling in more of a stylist’s point of view. I prefer to have my photos taken to display my changeable looks and ideas. A model is generally a person that serves as a subject for an artist, in my case I model my own artistic ideas, though I have collaborated with many exceptional clothing designers as well.

Do you have any personal guidelines on what you will or won’t do for the sake of a good photo, or is it pretty much anything goes? And if you do have any guidelines, have you ever been in a situation where you’ve had to enforce them?

I do not have any guidelines or limitations when it comes to creating art and making a good photo. I know there is a fine line when it comes to nudity and modelling for a lot of people but I think the human body is a beautiful thing and no one should be shamed by their body or showing it off to make a good artistic photo. I’m also aware that people are anti fur when it comes to modelling, though I am sure these models have worn leather garments as well as beauty products that have been tested on animals so it’s hard to say where to draw the line. All in all if I feel the photo is purposely taken for arts sake I am willing to do just about anything, if I feel the photo has a questionable meaning then I may refuse.

A lot of the models that we chat to here at Voltcase are often actresses, musicians, writers etc as well. Are you concentrating on just the modelling, or is it just one of many things that you do?

At the moment modelling has become more of a main focus for me. Recently I’ve been dabbling in adult modelling for Blue Blood and I’ve come to really enjoy shooting artistic nudes. Sex appeal and art is a striking assortment and more exotic and alluring in my opinion.

I also paint and have, on a few occasions, appeared in music videos, although acting and appearing on television does not really interest me.  I also have three books of Classic RazorCandi images from 2004 - 2009 for sale, I even put the book together myself!

We’re all a bunch of geeks at heart here at Voltcase, are you particularly geekie about anything in particular yourself?

I geek out with video games all the time! I also enjoy documentaries and have a bit of the conspiracy theorist in me.

If you were interviewing yourself, what question would you ask yourself? And what would the answer be?

Do you feel achieved through your modelling?

I chose this question because I honestly have a love hate relationship with modelling.
At times I feel defeated because I feel that my intention is misunderstood, it seems to have taken a path towards competitions and superior attitudes. It makes me sad to see a group of people be so lost and treat one another with such arrogance and disrespect when from the beginning it’s all supposed to be about art and embracing one another for being artists and being different. Sometimes I look back and see how far I have come and I can say that I am proud but I can not say that I feel achieved, not until I see people give instead of take and appreciate what each person has to show.

Loud rock ’n’ roll plays a big part in our lives here at Voltcase, are you a big music fan? Any bands or artists you might want to namedrop for us, or any unknown acts that you think we should check out?

Music plays an enormous role in my life and has helped form who I am and many of my views. My biggest incentive is music, even though I can not play an instrument or sing, music brings out my passion and love for art. I feel that music is a constant reminder of just how remarkable individuals can be; it is a testimony to emotion and attitude!  By my early teen years I was fascinated with bands like David Bowie, T-Rex, and New York Dolls. I started playing around with more of a glam/goth style and later in high school I became interested in post punk and batcave bands like Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children, Joy Division, Virgin Prunes and Alien Sex Fiend and at this point I adopted a more goth/punk style. One band that will always hold a special meaning to me is Plastic Princess because that is where I got my alias RazorCandi in 1998 (Razor Candy was a song) though Plastic Princess is no longer together (* check them out here: http://www.constructivestumblings.com/records/) they moved on to make the band Jupiter Blue (http://www.myspace.com/jupiterblue ) which is a great glam rock band!

And finally, the question that we ask everyone that appears in Voltcase - what does the word 'Voltcase' mean?

Voltcase is a case that is vaulted shut, but this not just any case, this case has something very peculiar inside. It is pronounced as one letter and written in three. Two letters there are and two only in me. I'm double, I'm single. I'm black, blue, green and grey. I'm read from both sides and the same either way. I am an eye and I can see only me in the case known as The VoltCase.
